TorchMan left his lucrative and glamorous career in television, because he felt his full super power wasn’t being realised.

“I love TV, it’s a powerful medium and still the best way to get your advertising message out to the Australian public, but I always had a niggling feeling there was something missing,” admits TorchMan.

“Now with shopper media, I can pull through TV campaigns – or print campaigns, or radio or outdoor – into the store and right in front of the shopper. Now that’s super power.”

Before qualifying as a fully-fledged super hero, TorchMan went to work under cover as a shelf stacker in Woolworths, to spend some time up close to the shoppers he would one day soon be rescuing from confusion.

“My time at Woolworths – I call that my Clark Kent period – really opened my eyes about what happens at the shelf. I was never much of a big shopper myself. Mum always took care of that. But stacking those shelves at all hours of the day and night, was a revelation.”
